The Brain as an Instrument; Drag City Offers Brain Pulse Machine

Masaki Batoh’s effects pedal, the Brain Pulse Machine, is now available for pre-order through Drag City Records’ web site with an expected street date for March 27.  The pedal, marketed toward experimental sound artists, essentially makes one’s brain wave pulse sounds audible through an amplifier via signal output from the pedal’s headset.  The technology is taken from a classic 1950s instrument for the brain monitoring of patients and was further developed by the MKC corporation in Tokyo, an effect pedal factory.  The pedal and headset are running about $700.
