Merzbow and Marhaug Release Collaborative Album Mer Mar

King of Noise Merzbow (Masami Akita) and  noise/jazz/extreme metal musician Lasse Marhaug have collaborated on a new recording entitled Mer Mar (cute) that is set for release on Editions Mego on March 13.  The album was recorded at GOK Sound Studios in Tokyo in 2010 and is not the first time the two have worked together.   In 2001, Merzbow and Marhaug’s project with John Hegre, Jazzkammer, released a live album.  Not to mention, the first release on Marhaug’s now defunct record label Jazzassin Records in 1995 was the First Rock split single.

According to Editions Mego, the record “made using a combination of scrap metal screeching, analogue synths, and enough effect pedals to give you overweight with most airline companies.”  It is available for pre-order here.
