Ornette Coleman Dies at 85

Saxophonist and free-jazz innovator Ornette Coleman, who needs no new introduction here, passed this morning in Manhattan. A representative of the family said the cause of death was cardiac arrest. Coleman will be remembered as one of the most influential and important figures in the history of jazz, and his legacy will surely out live new players still catching up.
