Nate Wooley to Perform Seven Storey Mountain IV Tomorrow

Nate Wooley will be performing his latest installment to his Seven Story Mountain series at ISSUE Project Room in Brooklyn tomorrow, June 6. Seven Storey Mountain IV, for ecstatic instruments and tape, is the most recent iteration of Wooley’s seven-part song cycle and will be performed with contributors Chris Corsano (drums), Ryan Sawyer (drums), Ben Vida (electronics), C. Spencer Yeh (violin), Matt Moran (vibraphone), Chris Dingman (vibraphone), and TILT Brass sextet. This performance will also consist of all sections of the work for the first time, having been initially introduced in fragments at ISSUE Project Room, the FONT festival, and on a solo tour of Wooley’s in the Netherlands.

The Seven Storey project was first commissioned by Festival of New Trumpet Music five years ago and has developed over time with a rotating cast of avant-improvising greats. The series is set to capture “the fluent expression of a certain abandon found in religious practice, within the confines of a composed work for instrumentalists” and thus far has two of its installments’ recordings released, with the third set to be released this year, featuring Corsano, Lytton, Grubbs, Yeh, and two vibraphones.
